The scratch-resistant cases are not lacking in the vast set of accessories that can be purchased by users in possession of a mobile device
Apple . The
case announced today by Nissan , however, has a special feature not so common:
not only resists scratches, but is able to automatically repair them thanks to the special paint that covers it .
The well-known manufacturer of cars, apparently, has little to share with Apple. The case of Nissan's approach, however, the automotive world with the mobile device. The unifying element is the Nissan Scratch Shield paint, developed by Nissan in collaboration with the University of Tokyo and Advanced Softmaterials and already used in many of his cars (eg, Murano, 370Z and X-Trail).
The paint that covers the ABS plastic case, is realized using the
polyrotaxane, which means that when the finish is damaged from minor scratches, the chemical structure is able to respond by summarizing the original structure, and bridging the gap
The "regeneration" of the outer layer of paint is limited to minor scratches and allows you to repair deep ruts, but the paint is in any case a very interesting technical solution.
For now, Nissan has presented only the housing, showing it to reporters during a press event held a Dubai. If demand proves high then the company may decide to initiate mass production.
Nissan, as well as producing their own enclosures equipped with the special paint, may grant the license to other manufacturers for use as it did with the Japanese mobile operator NTT DoCoMo, which has used it with Style Series N-03B cell represented in the following picture.
