Android has received 41% of the tablet market share iPad - 57%

Experts research firm Strategy Analytics concluded that the operating system Android has strengthened its position in the tablet market. This was the conclusion Apple after the publication of the report for the IV quarter of 2012 fiscal year.

According to analysts, the share of the American giant computer electronics on the market of tablet computers has dropped from 68.3% to 56.7%, while the share of Android-tablet conversely increased from 29.2% a year ago to 41%. Recent sales grew from 5 to 10.2 million units.

As for Microsoft, then its already small share of 2.3% down to 1.6%, although the announcement of the tablet Surface can still rectify the situation. The statistics take into account all the tablets manufacturers using Android and Windows, respectively. The share of other operating systems dropped to 0.4%.

While Android-tablets and nearly won market share from Apple, individually none of the manufacturers do not come close to iPad in terms of sales. Observers believe that the debut of iPad mini, the success of which they no doubt will allow the company to regain some lost ground. On the other hand, competitors are not asleep, too, and do not consider a lower price advantage worthy of disdain.

Total for the quarter was issued 24.7 million tablets. This is 43.4% more than 17.2 million gadgets shipped in the III quarter of 2011.

Started official sales Windows 8

In the night from 25 to 26 October will start worldwide sales of Windows 8? The first countries were sold discs with the new operating system, became New Zealand and Australia where already past midnight.

According to eyewitnesses, the excitement in Microsoft shops with the launch of Windows 8 not. The world's first DVD buyer with "eight" was a New Zealander Greg Daniel.

The new operating system from Microsoft, as it is known, in addition to new design, users expect a radical change: now familiar button "start" is not, and on the start screen is "tiles," each of which represents an application.

Many are concerned about Microsoft's decision to radically change the interface of its platform. The well-known expert in the design of interfaces Jakob Nielsen said that the traditional PC users essentially thrown under the tank developers Microsoft, has introduced a new design.

According to experts, Windows 8 good for tablets, but not for the PC. It is likely that in the pursuit of the mobile market Microsoft could hurt its traditional profitable business - the operating system for desktop and more active users will give up "windows" in favor of Mac OS X.

Note that this evening will be the official event Microsoft, dedicated to the launch of Windows 8 and tablets running Windows RT.
