Build 2011 to Windows there is only 8 "Desktop" but also the Server version, just as expected by experts. Microsoft has worked mainly on the cloud even though it was stated that Windows Server 8 will not be a revolution but rather ' evolution of Windows Server 2008, both in the private cloud that scale operations for small and medium-sized enterprises (which is not bad).
Among the news is definitely advised of the possibility to manage all versions of Windows Server 8 in three modes of user interface: the classic GUI-less UI with command line (seen in Server Core) and a new mode that provides for the elimination Shell and graphics while still allowing the browser to use the Management Console.
As you can see in the screenshot below, Windows Server 8 also has a look that looks a little Metro:
On the storage side has been optimized management of virtual disks and the control of the records in the past (and still is) translates into hours of waiting, and when there is a corruption of the file is repaired offline without running CHKDSK on throughout the unit. For comparison, a scan of 100 million files on Windows Server 8 can take 8 seconds compared to 100 minutes of Windows Server 2008 R2.
Among other innovations are also noted an enhanced graphical management of the global network of servers available and faster to add new servers to the system to monitor them. Obviously there are many other aspects that will be tested and that in the next regions will come to light, we speak of security, virtualization, etc..
