Samsung surpassed Apple's computer reliability rankings

Research firm Rescuecom released its annual report on the reliability of computers called Computer Reliability Report. Rating producers producing the most reliable hardware, led by Samsung, and by a considerable margin from the competition.

 

At the time, as the market share of Korean companies is one of the lowest in the list (1%), the build quality of the PC in conjunction with after-sales support for customers allowed it to circumvent other, more popular manufacturers.

The build quality for the rating is partly based on the number of calls to customer support service at 1-800-Rescue-Pc. In a report released accounted for as the quality of the computer, and the quality of support provided by the manufacturer.

Manufacturers of the most reliable computers according to Rescuecom:

1. Samsung - 422
2. Lenovo / IBM - 255
3. Asus - 159
4. Apple - 130
5. Toshiba - 117
6. HP / Compaq - 109
7. Dell - 79
8. Sony - 49
9. Acer - 28

According to Rescuecom, Samsung topped the list of manufacturers, receiving 422 points on the reliability of computers. It is followed by IBM / Lenovo with 255 points, then ASUS, Apple, and Toshiba with 159, 130 and 117 points respectively. HP, Dell, Sony and Acer close the list with 109, 79, 49 and 28 points respectively.

Rescuecom noted that Lenovo has in recent years, increasing its reliability rating. Meanwhile, Apple noted the substantial increase in market share, but the reliability of its vehicles dropped slightly.

Microsoft has finalized Windows 8

Microsoft has completed development of its operating system, Windows 8, releasing the final version of the platform for partners. According to an official of the company,  RTM-assembly is  shipped manufacturers of personal computers.

The new OS is based on Windows 7 and includes a new menu Start, which is made in accordance with the ideology of the Metro. It consists of "live" tiles, which play the role of labels and simultaneously display the latest data from applications.

RTM-version (Release To Manufacturing) Windows 8 contains the same code, which will be presented in a release to end users on October 26. Three-month delay is necessary to equipment manufacturers and application developers have time to prepare for the new system.

 

Regular users will be able to get Windows 8 since October 26  with a new computer or upgrade from Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 for $ 40 by downloading the distribution from the Net. Customers who purchase or acquire a new computer with Windows 7 after July 1, 2012, will be able to download the upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for $ 15.

Note that Windows 8 will be released in two versions - for systems with processors at the Intel x86 architecture and ARM. Version of the platform for ARM will be called Windows RT. Buy it separately it is impossible - this version will be available only in the form of pre-installed on the plates, which also will be available from October 26. The structure of Windows RT will include Microsoft Office 2013 .
