Nexus Galaxy and Super AMOLED HD: What changes from the Super AMOLED Plus?

In the last hours we read some comments on the screen of the Galaxy Nexus and some doubts have been expressed. The display that was used on the Galaxy Nexus is the brand new Super AMOLED HD , for the same type, also mounted on the Galaxy notes. As you can see there is the ending Plus, we find that instead of the screen S2 and Galaxy Tab 7.7 of the still not available but the HD version.

The absence of the suffix Plus has created a bit 'of confusion or better, it might seem a lack of new Google Phone. Thus we see that there are differences between the two displays.

Super AMOLED Plus is the evolution of the Super AMOLED and offers no PenTile technology , which allows a greater amount of sub-pixel that is turned into a better definition of the image and text for the user. In short, although the density of pixels is not very high because of the WVGA resolution, the images are extremely detailed and defined, with no damage even when viewed up close.

The Super HD AMOLED display is instead PenTile, provides that, on paper, not a technology improved over the one used on S2. PenTile technology, by having fewer subpixels, offers a less if we look at the screen very closely. This feels good comparing it with an S Galaxy Galaxy S2. In fact, the Galaxy Nexus cancels this difference due to HD resolution . Having a pixel density of about 315 ppi resolution with 1280 × 720 pixels, image quality, detail and the screen even from a very close and is still very high compared to that of S2 with Super AMOLED Plus

So, while it is true that the pixel density of the Galaxy Nexus is much higher than the Galaxy S2 and in line with the Retina display, one must consider the different technology that prevents us from defining "Retina" display even if the new Nexus paper offers about 315ppi. In fact, doing a comparison between iPhone 4/4s, S2 and Galaxy Galaxy Nexus and considering the technology used PenTile on the latter, defined ppi should have real values like this: 326 for the iPhone, about 220 for S2, and an equal number to Galaxy Nexus.

This is because in each of its Galaxy Nexus PenTile pixel is a green sub-pixels and a double-sized blue or red. Above you see instead as the Plus has the sub pixels of the same size, which increases the definition.

So in terms of pure definition, the Galaxy is comparable to the excellent Nexus Galaxy S2 and Apple iPhone. But if we consider the screen resolution, Galaxy Nexus allows for a much larger number of information displayed on the screen at the same zoom and screen. A good compromise, however, that offers high definition and excellent readability. Those listed are definitely more for fans than for data users "normal" but since some of the doubts we have preferred to speak of these differences here.

We never had problems with pixel display with a definition or S2 and the less we have had with Galaxy Nexus. We'll see if Samsung will implement the suffix Plus HD for small screens in the near future. Today, however, will not be disappointed by the quality of the screen above the Galaxy Nexus and you can enjoy the AMOLED technology that offers high contrast and deep blacks.
