The FAT file system will be replaced by younger exFAT , born
in 2006 and free of the above problems, the only flaw is that Open Source
Operating Systems such as Linux will not have compatibility with devices that
will use it. Microsoft, however, seems to be willing to disclose exFAT, which
is why today announced agreements with Sharp, Sigma, NextoDi, Black Magic and
Atmos, manufacturers that will use the next-generation devices.

Microsoft abandons the FAT file system in favor exFAT
After 35 years of loyal service, Microsoft has decided to
retire the obsolete FAT file system, created for the first Operating Systems
DOS and obviously used on early versions of Windows up to Millennium. FAT
format is an 8-bit storage that had as many will know the limit to store files
up to 4 GB and that quite some time showed its limits in the management of
archives and large libraries.
