The wait is almost over.
Apple officially announced a press conference on September 12 in San Francisco, confirming months of rumors. And the invitation (above) leaves little doubt that the event will be the launch of the 'iPhone 5 (or whatever name Apple chooses for its sixth generation iPhone).
Rarely a product has been so much analyzed before launch. Not a day or even an hour goes by without a new photo with rumors, screen, jack, even headphones. Analyzing these rumors let's see what we can realistically expect on September 12.
Name: New iPhone 5 or iPhone?
If the name of the last iPad was "iPad" - until recently were almost convinced that it was used the same name for the new iPhone. Then we are left with the looming "5" in the photo of the invitation (above).
A new design
Remember how it was a big problem the redesign of the iPhone 4? Expect something like this to take what was already an incredibly compact phone and make it even thinner. Naturally, images and voices able to collect so far show a mobile highest (though not wider).
The screen: longer, thinner
size larger screen seems almost certain, and all indicators say it will be 4 inches - 3.5 inches compared to the current. A resolution of 640 × 1.136-pixel allow an extra row of icons on the home screen, more space for applications to take advantage above the virtual keyboard, and HD video with less letterbox in landscape mode.
Finally, the screen may be produced with the technology "in-cell" , a method of creating a screen even slimmer all-in-one touch without additional layers. The result would be an iPhone thinner, improve the clarity of images, and maybe even the battery life.
A new dock connector
Recent pictures and mock-ups show what has been confirmed for months: a new 8-pin, ending the reign of the trusty old 30-pin connector iOS. It 'now time for a standard smaller: the largest 30-pin port on the bottom of the iPhone and iPad so much space without considering who now are many links via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or AirPlay. A new door 8-pin occupy less space, which could be used to improve the battery capacity without adding additional space on the phone.
Of course, while a smaller connector can have its advantages, it has a major drawback: the many accessories and cables with the compatibility of the 30-pin connector will be immediately obsolete (at least until there is an adapter available).
A new processor?
The iPhone has seen processor upgrades in every generation. A processor may be A6 quad-core CPU with a more advanced than that which is used in the current generation iPad, which has a processor A5X (with a dual-core and quad-core graphics). I would like to happen, or is there a chance that the new iPhone will have a compact processor A5X with the same power and perhaps more energy efficient?
iOS 6
iOS 6 has a lot of new features for the iPhone 4S and some older models of the iPhone. But Apple has indicated that - as Siri - some of the features of the new iOS (such as turn-by-turn) are only available on the latest models of the iPhone and iPad.
The official launch of iOS 6 should be detailed in this event, and chances are that will be available in a couple of days before the new iPhone goes on sale.
Expect the new Maps with turn-by-turn to be a highlight of this event once again.
Siri
's latest generation of Siri will have more connections with applications. It will be easier to use? The ability to launch applications using Siri could suggest a better ability to use in the car. Apple follows " Eyes Free ", a new technology being built for cars using the Siri connectivity. More details of Free Eyes with the new iPhone might come to this event.
NFC
do not believe that the new iPhone supports NFC communication since it is a technology still in its infancy and has not gained much spread so far.
A new camera
The iPhone has made three successive jumps in camera technology with the iPhone 3GS, 4 and 4S, but few people have complaints about the quality of the camera of the iPhone. Instead, there may be additional camera mode or repair: multiburst, MultiFocus improvement, or a better flash.
Mini iPad or new iPod?
The rumors claimed that Apple would use its event in September to bomb the competition with a slew of new products: iPhone 5, iPad Mini, new iPod and the new iOS. Recently, however, rumors have indicated two separate events: an iPhone launch in September, followed by the launch iPad Mini in October.
Based on what we think we know so far about the new iPhone, the whole event could be spent to discuss the new phone and its features (with iOS 6).
Meanwhile, the voices of the mini iPad, with its alleged 7.85 inches, are growing on a daily basis. This device should emerge in 2012, looks set with an event dedicated in October. Two events would allow Apple to duplicate the news cycle and attract attention,
One thing is certain: we will know much more in the afternoon of September 12.
