Crucial releases SSD v4 with SATA 3 Gbps

Crucial expands its range with the new line of SSD v4 , designed for users who do not have access to a system of last generation and thus could not take advantage of the performance of SATA 6 Gbps.

The units v4 fact use the standard SATA 2 with a maximum bandwidth of 3 Gbps, however characteristic that allows to have excellent performance when compared to those of a traditional disk in rotation.

These SSDs will be available in 2.5 inch form factor with a capacity from 32 to 256 GB and a maximum transfer rate of 230-190 MB / s in read-write. The access times of SSDs are the classic ones mentioned above and allow the user to benefit, without paying a plus for the SATA 6 Gbps. Prices for Crucial V4 start at 49.99 dollars for the 32GB model to get to 189.99 dollars flagship 256 GB, all units are covered by a 3 year warranty.

Hard Disk Market: SSD prices in freefall

From the site techreport emerges an interesting analysis on the price of SSD. While those of the hard disk rotary refuse to move after the floods, which last year hit production facilities in Thailand, the market for solid-state hard drive (SSD) instead has a much brighter future thanks to technology, Nand Flash becomes more accessible.
From the graphs shown on the site we can see that the trend is a continuous drop in prices to a minimum of $ 1 a gigabyte. Now for example some graphs:

Speaking of OCZ for example, we can see how the prices compared to March of 2011 have fallen by almost half (3 Vertex 240GB model), a trend that is so much hope for a further reduction.

Corsair has seen lower prices instead of their Force Series GT by more than half, especially for models with 240 GB.

Let us finally to Intel with 520 units, models that have recently seen the light, but which amounted to around 350, 200 and $ 100 respectively for models 240, 120 and 60 GB. Here the drop is less obvious but completely normal view of the "age" of these units compared to other models. We thus hope that this trend is confirmed and the SSD can reach all types of users.  By
