Many users successfully upgraded from OS X Lion on platform OS X Mountain Lion through the Mac App Store, but there are users who prefer to do a clean install of the OS. In this case, the operating system is rolled on a formatted hard drive partition from which you removed all of the data. Or even use the new drive.
It is believed that this method is the most reliable and promising in terms of future stability of the OS. Programs and tweaks, set in the environment and under the control of Mountain Lion, will work with maximum stability. If you choose this method of installing a new OS, we recommend to back up all important data.
Clean install OS X Mountain Lion:
Step 1 : Download the Mountain Lion of the store Mac App Store, but do not install the OS.
Step 2 : According to the instructions published here , create a bootable DVD or USB-drive with a Mountain Lion.
Step 3 : Once you create a bootable drive, restart your computer while holding down the Option (ALT).
Step 4 : When you start the computer from the boot menu, select "Installer Mac OS X».
Step 5 : Open Disk Utility and select your hard drive you want to format. Click on the Erase. From the drop-down menu, select Format Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and type the desired drive letter.
Step 6 : Click Erase to start formatting the drive.
Step 7 : After the operation, close Disk Utility and select from the top menu "Install Mac OS X».
Step 8 : Specify the drive and install the Mountain Lion.
After a clean install of OS X Mountain Lion, you can move applications and other important files from a backup or to use the operating system "from scratch".
