The first prototype phones based on the Firefox OS shown on video

Telefonica unveiled the first prototype of the smart phone operating system Firefox OS, based on web standard HTML5. The company said that the device is a complete analogue of the Android-device functionality, but will cost only $ 100.
The prototype was created in partnership with Qualcomm, an American manufacturer of processors for mobile devices. Featuring his representatives Telefonica demonstrated multi-tasking, messaging, access to Facebook and play. Device equipped with a touchscreen and has four touch buttons. All presented features were created based on HTML5.
Note that a rather dull appearance redeemed its software. Firefox OS was conceived as an alternative to Android and should surpass it in performance.

Just as a competitor, Mozilla's mobile platform is based on the use of the Internet, that is, most of the operations of information processing is carried out on remote servers. This reduces the power requirements of processors and other "stuffing", and therefore - and reduces the final price of the device.
According to representatives of Telefonica, to create applications for Firefox OS to be easy, since 75% of the programs for Android and iOS work is based on HTML5, as well as by a sufficiently strong community of Mozilla and brand awareness. The first smartphone on the Firefox OS will be released in Brazil in early 2013.
